We are Now OPEN

Space by: Johanne Nyborg

Come see the fourth exhibition in Space by!

Johanne Nyborg (b. 1994) is a photographer and visual artist based in Oslo. Nyborg works with long-term documentary projects and her main medium is analog photography. Her projects explore themes surrounding humanity's relationship with nature and other species, and through her work she aims to connect people more closely with the landscape, the seasons, and the cycles we’re all part of. She works hands-on in the darkroom and by making her own frames.

One of her current projects is a visual exploration into the oldest forests in Norway, where there are no trails and the biodiversity is at it’s highest. Some of these forests has nature reserve staus already, while others are not yet protected despite being in the small percentage of *verneverdig skog* (protection worthy forests).

Nyborg approaches the old forest with curiosity and care, through quiet observation and immersiveness. She gets up close and aims to capture the tactile life that most of us never get to know intimately.

For the first time she shows color images from her forest project, all taken in the majestic forests of Pasvik, Finnmark. These images are paired with close-up texture studies in custom made pine frames.

Nyborg has previously exhibited at venues including Kösk, Fotografiens Hus and Kunstnernes Hus.
